Bio

 

Sarah Marylou Brideau est née dans la Péninsule-Acadienne, dans le Nord-Est du Nouveau-Brunswick, en 1983. En 2001, elle publie ses premiers textes dans la revue Éloizes (no.30). Elle termine ses études secondaires en 2002 à Moncton High School. La même année elle publie son premier recueil de poésie Romanichelle aux Éditions Perce-Neige.

En septembre 2002, elle entreprend des études à l’Université St Thomas à Fredericton. À cette même université, elle participe à diverses pièces de théâtre et publie quelques articles dans l’hebdomadaire The Aquinian. En 2003 elle participe au Salon du livre de Dieppe et au Salon du livre d’Edmunston.

En 2004, Sarah est invitée au Festival international de Poésie de Trois-Rivières. Une traduction espagnole d’un de ses textes est subséquemment publiée dans la revue Arena à Mexico. En février 2005 elle publie son deuxième recueil de poésie Rues étrangères aux Éditions Perce-Neige.

En avril 2005, elle réalise la production et la mise en scène de sa propre pièce de théâtre SILK avec la compagnie Theatre St. Thomas. Cette pièce est produite pendant quatre soirées consécutives dont dernière soirée est présentée à guichet fermé. Sarah Marylou Brideau déménage à Montréal en août 2005 où elle termine sa scolarité à l’Université McGill. Elle participe au Salon du livre de Montréal en 2005 et 2006. En mai 2006, elle est diplômée d’un Baccalauréat ès Arts avec spécialisation en Lettres de l’Université St. Thomas.

Elle a été collaboratrice au blog montréalais Midnight Poutine et à la revue Camuz, où la  majorité de ses articles se consacraient à la scène musicale locale, unissant ainsi sa passion pour l’écriture, la musique et la photographie. Elle a aussi contribué à Snap! Magazine à quelques reprises. À l’automne 2010, elle participe pour une deuxième fois au Festival international de la poésie à Trois-Rivières.

Sarah vit présentement à Moncton, au Nouveau-Brunswick, et vient tout juste de terminer une Maîtrise en Langue et Littérature Françaises à l’Université McGill pour laquelle son mémoire (Gérald Leblanc et le micro-cosmopolitisme) a été nominé pour la liste du doyen. Son troisième recueil de poésie, Coeurs nomades, paraîtra à l’hiver 2013.

Sarah Marylou Brideau was born in the Acadian Peninsula, in North-Eastern New-Brunswick, in 1983. In 2001, she publishes her first poems in Éloizes (no. 30). In 2002, she graduates from Moncton High School. That same year, Romanichelle, her first collection of poems is published at Les Éditions Perce-Neige.

In september 2002, she begins her studies at St. Thomas University, in Fredericton. Her time at that school is punctuated by her involvement with Theatre St. Thomas as well as her publications in the weekly student publication, The Aquinian. In 2003, the participates to book fairs such as Salon du Livre de Dieppe and Salon du Livre d’Edmunston.

In 2004, Sarah is invited to join the great numbers of international guest authors at the world reknown Festival International de Poésie de Trois-Rivières. A Spanish translation of one of her poems is subsequently published in Arena, in Mexico. In February of 2005, a second collection of poetry, Rues étrangères, is published at Les Éditions Perce-Neige.

In April 2005, she writes and directs a play called SILK with Theatre St. Thomas. The successful project is presented for four consecutive nights, the last of which is sold out.

Sarah Marylou Brideau moves to Montreal in the fall of 2005, finishing her undergrad schooling at McGill University. She participates at the Salon du Livre de Montreal in 2005 and 2006. In May 2006, she graduates from St. Thomas University with Honours in French.

While in Montreal, she collaborated to the Montreal blog Midnight Poutine for several years as well as to the magazine Camuz. Joining together her passion for writing, music and photography, most of her articles focussed on the local music scene. She has also contributed to Snap! Magazine. In the Fall of 2010, she was invited to take part to the International Festival of Poetry in Trois-Rivières for a second time.

Sarah just finished her Masters Degree in French Language and Literature at McGill University, where her thesis (Gérald Leblanc et le micro-cosmopolitisme) was nominated for the Dean’s List. Her third collection of poetry Coeurs nomades will be published in Winter 2013. She now lives in Moncton.
