Band of the Week

So it’s not really a band, but more like this one musical marvel of a man; Kevin Drew. Formerly lead singer and founding member of the notorious Canadian musical collective Broken Social Scene, Drew is now getting ready to release a first solo album. According to Arts & Crafts (record label), Spirit if… is meant to hit the stands on September 19th, 2007. I can’t hardly wait. After having downloaded the first song of this album (legally of course) I have to admit that I’ve listened to it over 20 times in the past 48 hours.
According to Wikipedia, this beauty is paired up with the equally beautiful and talented Leslie Feist (sorry Jon). Also, his MySpace page just went up today.
Broken Social Scene have recently decided to take a hiatus. I was really saddened by this, however, if it means more wonderful stuff springing from solo acts like this one, Aposlte of Hustle‘s last album, or even Feist‘s new album, I’m willing to mend the wound and deal with the loss.
I’m so excited about this album, there’s no way I’ll be able to wait off until September.
