This week on the R3-30

Posted on February 17, 2008

What is the R3-30 you ask? Well, if you’re a regular reader, you probably know that I’m a big fan of the CBC Radio 3. CBC has three radio stations: Radio 1, Radio 2 and Radio 3. The latter is the younger Indie station offering you an amazing selection of what I believe is the some of the best Canadian bands around.

r330_144px.jpgI started listening to this station several years ago after my friend Kyle told me about it. There’s no other station like it really. The R3-30 is a weekly show hosted by my friend Craig Norris and produced by Pedro Mendez which counts down the best 30 Indie Canadian music. Every week, they invite listeners to drop them a line and pitch them a song you believe should be on the R3-30. Being a loyal listener, I pitch them a song every once in a while. If they pick your song to be on the show, they give you a call and give you a shot at spinning the Wheel of Freedom, giving you a chance to win a bunch of prizes.

To my great surprise and delight, they picked my song this week for the R3-30 and gave me a call! So I got to chat it up with Craig and Pedro, on the air before I was invited to “Let freedom spin!!!!!!” I won a Sirius Satellite Radio. It was lots of fun even though Craig totally caught me off guard with a few questions. I probably made an ass of myself now that I think of it, but invite you to listen anyway.

The podcast can be downloaded on their website or here. If you’re reading this a few weeks late and wondering which podcast I’m on, it’s podcast #51.
